Louisiana Inmate Search

Are you looking for Louisiana inmates?

The DOC doesn't have a typical "Louisiana inmate search" page like many states. They have begun a phone system where you can get information on inmates. Here is a quote from their web site, "Individuals, using a touch tone or cell phone, may call 225-383-4580 to access the new Offender Locator system 24 hours a day".

Callers will need to know the offender's DOC number or may enter the offender's name and date of birth to access housing assignment, address of the facility where the offender is located, a contact phone number and a projected release date (if applicable).

The system is updated every 24 hours and also includes information on those offenders under probation or parole (community) supervision.

The Offender Locator system will only give information for DOC offenders -- not for pre-trial inmates or those individuals serving parish or municipal sentences.

You can also use the Vinelink system to locate Louisiana inmates. You can access it at Vinelink.com.

Click on the Louisiana state map and then look on the left column of the next page for offenders. They give only a very limited amount of information such as:

  • name
  • date of birth
  • custody status
  • facility (includes parish jails and state institutions)

If you are searching for Louisiana inmates in a federal prison, you must go to the Federal inmate search page.

Louisiana Department of Corrections

Do you need information on Louisiana prisons? Are you looking for visiting rules and regulations? If so, click to the Institutions Page. You will see a list of all the Louisiana prisons. Click the name of the prison and the next page will show you:
  • contact information such as phone numbers and addresses
  • driving directions to the facility
  • visiting information
  • descriptions of prison programming

Are you looking for information about telephone calls from inmates? Go to the Telephone Contact Page. It will give you all of the available options. Be sure to click the links at the bottom of the page (day calls, evening calls) which will tell you how much a 15 minute call will cost from a variety of type of phones.

Louisiana Parish Jails

More and more parish jails are placing the booking and arrest records online. If you are wanting to do a Louisiana inmate search for inmates in the parish system, typically you must go through the sheriff's office. As these become available, I will be adding them below.
