Reentry programs are in short supply in prison and jails.

Did you know that over 1/2 of all prisoners released return to prison?

What factors contribute to successfully coming home and staying home? What are those things that lead to failure and a return trip back to prison?

There has been some interesting studies on this very issue. Many people would guess that criminal history, age, and substance abuse would account for the high rates of return to prison.

But the research shows otherwise. The number one influence that skyrockets your probability of returning to prison: friends. And it's not how many criminal friends you are hanging around with either. It skyrockets if you have just one.

The most often asked question that I receive has to do with reentry. What can a person do to help a loved one coming home from prison?
