What steps does an inmate take to parole out of state?

First, for some basic information on out of state parole, visit the Interstate Commission for Adult Offender Supervision web site. It houses the web based ICOTS system which facilitates the transfer of probationers and parolees from one state to another.

The specific page that will be of most help to you will be the State ICOTS contact page. You will find the email and telephone number for contacting your state to ask how they handle parole requests out of state.

It is not always approved. It requires the approval of both the sending and receiving states and there is actually a lot of variables that go into such a decision.
