How can I find out when an inmate will be released?Unfortunately, that is very difficult to answer. There are lots of variables that go into a release date. Let me list a few: 1. How much time Federal inmates (those serving time in a federal prison) serve of their sentence may be much different than state inmates (those serving time in a state correctional facility) or those in a county jail. 2. It depends whether there is a parole board in your state (this doesn't apply to federal inmates). Parole boards are the releasing authority in those states and they have their own guidelines they go by and many times you cannot exactly predict a release date. 3. If there is not a parole board, there is a much better chance to actually know the release date when you begin your sentence. 4. For county jails, the judge may sentence a person to a definite amount of time and then they are released. So, it is very difficult to answer your question without knowing the type of prison/jail a person is serving time in, the location and the specific conviction involved.
