Cash Bail Bonds

by Kenya
(Lansing, Michigan)

If the cash bond is $750, could that be worked off, like kitchen duty? How long would a individual have to serve for that amount?

Let me review what a cash bond is and how it works. When a person is arrested, they will go before a judge who will set a bond amount in dollars. The purpose of the bond is to guarantee the person will appear in court. If they don't appear in court, you lose the money.

If the bond is $750, you have to pay that amount of cash to the court. The money is refunded back to you when the case is heard and a decision is made. Or, you can go to a bailbond company and typically, you pay 10% as the fee and the bond company puts up the rest. The company keeps the 10% as the cost of doing business. So you will pay $75.00.

You can't "work off" a bond. It doesn't work like that.
